Welcome to the

Glenda Allen Dance Academy

About our Academy

The Glenda Allen Dance Academy is one of Hong Kong’s most dynamic and highly respected Dance and Musical Theatre Academies!  It is led by the Principal, Glenda Allen, formerly of “The Australian Ballet”
and Winner of the Dame Margot Fonteyn Award.

Glenda and her team of dedicated teachers are personally committed to encourage all students to
develop and nurture their love of dance through music and by performing in theatres,
as this helps them to really blossom as they experience the ‘magical atmosphere’
that only a theatre can provide!

The Dance Academy founded and runs the HKIS Dance Programme in Repulse Bay, now in its 26th successful year. All classes are also open to non-HKIS students.

We look forward to welcoming you to our family,
at the Glenda Allen Dance Academy!

What People Are Saying …

“Dear Glenda, Thank you for a marvellous show. I have seen many ‘ballet’ dance shows over the years, but this was truly the best.”

“Thank you so much for another outstanding performance!!!  I only can assume how much work it is to make such a wonderful show to happen.  You gained your reputation all over Hong Kong and I am thrilled that my daughter likes to join another term, maybe in two dances next year.  You and your dance academy will for ever be a big part in her life; thank you so much for your effort, love and passion for all these children.”

“Wow! This show is ready for Broadway. I can’t tell you what a magnificent show it was. The parents are so proud of the girls and the Teachers. What an experience it is for the girls to be part of the show. Our daughter gained a tremendous amount of confidence from this experience. She could not stop talking about it all evening. What excitement! Thank you so much for your dedication and professionalism. Well Done Glenda!”

“Congratulations on the success of the performances!  Your production was absolutely impressive.  My husband said, “I don’t think I have ever seen a professional production for kids like this one!”  It was SO well done. The kids were great, the costumes were beautiful, the flow of the whole show was smooth, it was just first rate!  The kids were so poised and they all had smiles and expressions on their faces!  I am so happy my daughter was part of it and is part of your school.”

“Glenda, your big event prior to the holidays was definitely outstanding. You are a lady with lots of patience and incredible talent. There was no dance program at HKIS and now it is an important must for many students. You built this program from the bottom and now it is a big success. Thank you! Watching the program and seeing the talent you get from these kids is unbelievable. Many in the audience were applauding for you. I asked myself, ‘where do you find the energy?’”

- Principal, Hong Kong International School

“Glenda, the dance recital at the Lyric Theatre ‘Rocked’, as the kids would say. And as they say on T.V., ‘how do you do that?’ Working with 100+ kids! Your talent is endless and what you bring to HKIS is unbeatable! Each year you not only elevate the program to new all time highs, but also to new enrolment highs. You and your program bring value to our school and we most certainly value you. Thank you Glenda!”

- Principal, Hong Kong International School

“Thank you for all you do with the girls! It is obvious your heart and soul is in every recital. Hong Kong would be lost without you!”

“Dance is your pulse, your heartbeat, your breathing. It is the rhythm of your life. It is the expression in time and movement, in happiness, joy, sadness and envy.”
